Pupil Premium

The pupil premium grant is additional funding allocated to publicly funded schools to raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils and support pupils with parents in the armed forces.

The school uses the grant to support these groups, which comprise pupils with a range of different abilities, to narrow any achievement gaps between them and their peers.

We also recognise that not all pupils eligible for pupil premium funding will have lower attainment than their peers. In such cases, the grant will be used to help improve pupils’ progress and attainment so that they can reach their full potential.

In order to ensure best spending and maximum impact for our pupils we assess what additional provision should be made for the individual pupils within our care.

At St. Nicholas' Chantry Cof E Primary School our Pupil Premium funding is spent by contributing to learning support, various activities, support and initiatives within the school. These include:

  • Improving the quality of teaching and learning, including professional development for staff
  • Additional educational support through small group and individual interventions.
  • Our Learning Mentor, who works with pupils needing emotional wellbeing, social and behavioural support.
  • TLG (Transforming Lives for Good) coaching for pupils with emotional barriers to learning such as bereavement.
  • 'Pause and Engage' 1:1 coaching based on individual needs.
  • Contributions to educational visits, trips, sports activities and music tuition.
  • Contributions to Breakfast club and After School Clubs if appropriate.

This year the amount allocated to each school per eligible pupil is now:

  • £1455 for FSM or Ever 6 FSM pupils.
  • £2530 for Looked After Children.
  • £320 for Children of Service Personnel.

If your financial or family circumstances change you may be entitled to Free School Meals. You can complete a short online form to find out if you are eligible, then as well as getting a daily meal, your child will also benefit in the ways outlined above.
