Pupil Premium

The Pupil Premium was introduced by the Government in April 2011. It is an allocation of additional funding provided to schools to support children from low-income families, who are entitled to Free School Meals (FSM) at any point over the last 6 years (Ever 6 FSM), are looked after by the Local Authority or are from families with parents of Service Personnel.

It is for individual schools to decide how the Pupil Premium money is spent, as each school is best placed to assess what additional provision should be made for the individual pupils within their care.

At St. Nicholas' Chantry CofE Primary School our Pupil Premium money is spent by contributing to various activities, support and initiatives within the school. These include:

  • Our Learning Mentor, who keeps in contact on a daily basis with pupils needing emotional well being, social and behavioural support.
  • Additional educational support through small group and individual interventions.
  • TLG (Transforming Lives for Good) coaching for pupils with emotional barriers to learning such as bereavement.
  • 'Pause and Engage' 1:1 coaching based on individual needs.
  • Contributions to educational visits, trips, sports activities and music tuition.
  • Contributions to Breakfast club and After School Club as appropriate.

This year the amount allocated to each school per eligible pupil is now:

  • £1320 for FSM or Ever 6 FSM pupils.
  • £2300 for Looked After Children.
  • £300 for Children of Service Personnel.
