Year 6 - Elder & Oak
TERM 5
Welcome to Year 6!
Term 5 - here we go!
We are excited to begin a busy and important term ahead. It is especially significant as the children prepare for, and complete, their SATs.
In the coming weeks, we will focus on continuing to build confidence across all subjects, particularly in reading, writing and mathematics. Lessons will include revision and opportunities to develop problem-solving skills which are designed to support the children in doing their very best. We will also ensure the children feel supported, calm and ready. Please continue to encourage your child at home: maintain positive routines; make sure they get plenty of rest; provide time for them to relax and eat well - a healthy body helps a focused mind!
Alongside SATs preparation, we have lots of exciting learning planned: our topics this term include Electricity (Science) and Coding (Computing). We will also make time for fun activities and opportunities to relax after the SATs are completed!
Year 6's - you have all worked incredibly hard to get to this point and now it is your time to shine. Let’s go for it – you’ve got this!

Giving your child a choice over what they read is an important factor in boosting their enthusiasm for reading and children are more likely to be interested in books they have selected for themselves.
These age-appropriate reading-for-pleasure recommendations for 10 year-old pupils consist of a variety of fiction and nonfiction books for all ability ranges and interests. Please use the link to explore the list of 50 recommended reads for year 6, which includes a diverse range of books.
