Year 6 - Elder & Oak
TERM 4
Welcome to Year 6!
Welcome Back to Term 4!
We can’t believe how quickly the year has flown by. We are so proud of everything our Year 6 pupils have achieved so far.
Term 4 is always an exciting, busy and important time of the year - full of hard work, growth and celebration. Our learning this term will continue to challenge and inspire the children.
As our Year 6 pupils prepare for the transition to secondary school, we will spend time continuing to develop independence, resilience and organisational skills. Reading continues to be a key priority. All children are expected to read at least three times a week, with adults signing the reading record to support this routine. Homework must be completed to a high standard and brought into school on time.
We are looking forward to a positive, productive and successful Term 4 where every child feels confident, supported and proud of all they achieve.

Recommended Reads for Year 6
Giving your child a choice over what they read is an important factor in boosting their enthusiasm for reading and children are more likely to be interested in books they have selected for themselves.
These age-appropriate reading-for-pleasure recommendations for 10 year-old pupils consist of a variety of fiction and nonfiction books for all ability ranges and interests. Please use the link to explore the list of 50 recommended reads for year 6, which includes a diverse range of books.
